oooh news

Bit of an exciting week this week.
Had a chat today with a lovely lady from Chippng Norton Theatre about helping out there on productions and workshops, so hopefully something will come from that. But even more exciting is that i have some film work this weekend! (Thankyou Sophie Bold for this!) Will be doing a bit of make-up on 'The Zombie Diaries 2'. Will let you know how it all goes.

Emily and the Baba Yaga

I came across this whilst researching my project. Its a short animation based on the tales of Baba Yaga, called Emily and the Baba Yaga. It's a great adaptation. Enjoy.

Back Tracking

Previously i used this blog as a diary of my final project at uni. So i thought i would do a quick summarise of it.

I based my final project around the Russian folk lore character of Baba Yaga, using the tale of Vasillisa the Fair. Baba Yaga lives in a forest, in a house that walks on chicken legs, and flies around in a pestle and mortar, and naturally eats anyone who crosses her. Think the witch in Hansel and Gretel, but far more interesting. If you haven't heard of her, i defiantly recommend reading up on her.

So for my project i designed Baba Yaga's crooked moving home, and also a character design of the witch.

The character design was something i struggled with a little bit, i tried to create someone who
looked menacing and frightening, yet slightly frail at the same time.

See my behance for more images from this project.

Hello all...

So, I have decided to re-invent this blog into more of a "diary of a recent graduate on the search for work", that kind of thing.

So a bit about me.....
This summer i graduated from my Theatre, Performance and Event design degree, at Birmingham City University. My main interests lie in set dressing, model making and props. I like to get my hands dirty and make. The big goal is to work in films, but right now I'm happy with any old job that comes along! Other than that i like art, films, theatre, music - the usual. I enjoy a good book (and a bit of a naff one too), and have a soft spot for motor sport.

So, in the 5 months since graduating i have landed myself a nice little job in a jewellery shop, not ideal, but enjoyable. I get to play with lots of nice things and have a tinker with visual merchandise, which is always a plus.

I'm going to use this as a bit of a diary of what I'm up to, work wise and in general, and post things that interest me. Enjoy.
